ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

FIRES IN THE DISTANCE is a progressive/melodic death metal band formed in 2016 in CT, USA, initially as a one-man studio project which ultimately progressed into a full lineup and live presence. Following the release of their acclaimed 2020 debut album, “Echoes From Deep November” via Prosthetic Records, the band went on to deliver their sophomore album, “Air Not Meant For Us”, in 2023. Expanding on their musical foundations of wistful melodicism, crushingly heavy guitar work and intricate atmospherics. Lyrical concepts address intenselypersonal ruminations on mental health and themes of existentialism in the form of mortality salience, without losing sight of the importance of perseverance. Teaming up with Salt Lake City producer Randy Slaugh (Devin Townsend, Tesseract, White Moth Black Butterfly), the band sought to reach even greater dynamics within the core sound of melodic death and melancholic metal. With live orchestration in the form of violas, violins, cellos, as well as piano work, proving to be an incredibly fruitful collaborative process for both band and producer. Following a North American tour with DARK TRANQUILLITY and AMORPHIS in 2024, FIRES IN THE DISTANCE returned to the studio for the track their 3rd LP with longtime producer Dave Kaminsky at Studio Wormwood, as well as returning producer Randy Slaugh, which is slated for a 2026 release.
